How do you settle children into Bishy Barnabees Day Nursery?
We offer Play and Settling In Sessions. The Play Sessions enables a parent/carer to come into nursery and stay with their child. This gives the parent/ carer an opportunity to see what ‘goes on’ in nursery as well as time to speak to the staff and ask any questions. Settling In sessions allow the children to be left for short periods of time gradually building up on the time they are left. We work very closely with the parents/carers to see what is best for each individual child.
How do you keep to a baby’s routine whilst they are at nursery?
We ask for a ‘Day in the Life Of…’ form to be completed prior to starting. This asks for details about sleeping patterns, meals, drinks, the whole day from first thing in the morning to last thing at night. We then try and mirror this as best as possible throughout the day, if changes are needed to be made this is discussed with parents/carers first.
How do I know what my child has been doing each day?
Our babies take home a daily diary which details everything that has been done, from playing, sleep times, meals etc. As the children progress through the nursery we have a ‘Look What I’ve Been Doing Today’ form which again details the main points of the day.
Where will my child sleep?
In the baby room each child is allocated a cot and separate sheets and blankets, in the older rooms if sleeps are required either a cot or mattress is provided in our quiet area.
How do you keep the nursery secure?
Access to the gardens is limited to one gate which has a combination padlock attached, the main building is accessed through a doorbell system. Nobody can just walk into Bishy Barnabees.
Do the children have access to outside Play?
Each room has its own secure outside area that the children can access throughout the day when they choose.
Do you take the children on outings?
We often take the children to the local duck pond to feed the ducks. We also visit the local church and can be seen walking buggies through the village.
Do you provide home cooked meals?
We have an experienced nursery cook who cooks all our meals from scratch, our menus are looked at monthly and change with the seasons.
What snacks do you provide?
All children have access to two snacks a day and these include fresh fruit, vegetables, drips, crackers etc.
Are all your staff Qualified?
Nearly all our staff our qualified with a recognised childcare qualification. We do support people wanting a career in childcare and therefore do, from time to time have unqualified staff as part of our team but only those working towards a recognised qualification.
Are your staff CRB Checked?
We carry out CRB checks on all our staff.
Do you require a deposit? How much notice do you require with regards to starting?
We ask for a £50.00 deposit which secures the sessions required. We do not have a set amount of notice required; we very much work with parents and try to be as accommodating as possible.
How are parents kept informed of any changes or procedures that may change within the nursery?
Each month a Newsletter is distributed along with the monthly invoices. The newsletter details what has happened in the previous month, if there are any events taking place, any changes occurring etc.
